Coronary Flow Reserve Measurement by Transthoracic Doppler Echocardiography
نویسنده
چکیده
Introduction Coronary flow reserve (CFR) is defined as a ratio of maximal (stimulated) to baseline (resting) coronary blood flow. CFR evaluation is important for the understanding of the pathophysiology of coronary circulation. CFR measurement is used both to assess epicardial coronary stenoses and to examine the integrity of microvascular circulation. An appreciation of coronary physiology is an integral part of clinical decision-making for cardiologists treating patients with coronary artery disease. In the absence of stenosis in epicardial coronary artery, the CFR may be decreased when coronary microvascular circulation is compromised by arterial hypertension with or without left ventricular hypertrophy, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, syndrome X, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or other diseases [1].

Transthoracic Doppler echocardiography – noninvasive diagnostic window for coronary flow reserve assessment
This review focuses on transthoracic Doppler echocardiography as noninvasive method used to assess coronary flow reserve (CFR) in a wide spectrum of clinical settings. Transthoracic Doppler echocardiography is rapidly gaining appreciation as popular tool to measure CFR both in stenosed and normal epicardial coronary arteries (predominantly in left anterior descending coronary artery). Post-sten...
متن کاملNon-invasive measurement of coronary flow reserve in children with Kawasaki disease.
OBJECTIVE To investigate whether transthoracic Doppler echocardiography (TTE) can reliably measure the coronary flow reserve in the left anterior descending coronary artery in children with Kawasaki disease. DESIGN Coronary flow velocity in the distal left anterior descending coronary artery was measured by TTE and was compared with that obtained by intracoronary Doppler guide wire. The ratio...
متن کاملChanges in Coronary Flow Reserve Assessed by Transthoracic Echocardiography after Lipid-Lowering Therapy in Patients with Hypercholesterolemia
Background:The coronary flow reserve is known to be reduced in patients with hypercholesterolemia, and has also been reported to improve after lipid-lowering therapy. Using transthoracic Doppler echocardiography, the changes in the coronary flow reserve were evaluated after lipid-lowering therapy in hypercholesterolemic patients. Methods:The coronary flow reserve was determined by pulsed-wave D...
متن کاملAssessment of coronary flow reserve by transthoracic Doppler echocardiography in left apical ballooning syndrome.
We present the time course of transthoracic coronary flow reserve in the left anterior descending artery in a patient who suffered a transient left apical ballooning syndrome.
متن کاملStudy of coronary sinus flow reserve through transesophageal Doppler echocardiography in normal subjects.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the Coronary Flow Reserve in the Coronary Sinus through transesophageal Doppler echocardiography in normal subjects. METHODS We obtained technically adequate flow samples for analysis in 10 healthy volunteers (37+/-8 years, 5 men) with no history of heart or systemic disease and with mean left ventricular mass index by transthoracic echocardiography of 87+/-18 g/m2. Coro...
متن کاملDemonstration of Pathologic Coronary Flow Dynamics using Transthoracic Doppler Echocardiography: Its Potential Role in Clinical Decision-Making
With advancements in high frequency transducers, transesophageal (TEE) and transthoracic Doppler echocardiography (TTE) are emerging as promising methods for the evaluation of coronary arteries. In addition to visualizing images for the detection of stenosis of the proximal and distal coronary arteries, as well as various kinds of coronary artery anomalies, the functional assessment through mea...
